Ricardo Leal dos Santos foi designado vencedor da última etapa do Dakar2012, depois de esta quinta-feira ter sido confirmada a desclassificação do americano Robby Gordon, que se tinha imposto na 14.ª tirada da prova rainha de todo-o-terreno.
Ricardo Leal dos Santos e Maykel Justo, ao volante de uma Nissan Navara V8 da equipa BAMP, terminaram o África Eco Race no 15º lugar, 12º entre os autos. Para o português este foi um regresso a África para se estrear numa prova que foi do seu agrado, apesar dos contratempos.
Ricardo Leal dos Santos parte para o seu nono Dakar com as ambições mais elevadas de sempre. Ao volante de um Mini All4 Racing, o piloto, de 39 anos, leva a missão de contribuir para o triunfo de Stéphane Peterhansel na classificação geral, ao mesmo tempo que procura melhorar o sétimo lugar obtido na última edição.

We would like to introduce one of the tracks that will be available for the race in High Village Park. It’s twenty miles of hard-to-reach forests, rocky cliffs and mountain rivers. In 2018, this route was recognized as one of the hardest in North America. All athletes must meet all the requirements of the Event’s sanctioning body (e.g., including but not limited to the sanctioning body’s licensing and/or insurance requirements).
